εκάλει πάντας τῇ προθέσει τῆς καρδίας προσμένειν τῷ 24 Κυρίῳ· ὅτι ἦν ἀνὴρ ἀγαθὸς καὶ πλήρης Πνεύματος ̔Αγίου 25 καὶ πίστεως. καὶ προσετέθη ὄχλος ἱκανὸς τῷ Κυρίῳ. Εξ

ῆλθε δὲ εἰς Ταρσὸν ὁ Βαρνάβας ἀναζητῆσαι Σαῦλον, καὶ 26 εὑρὼν αὐτὸν ἤγαγεν αὐτὸν εἰς Αντιόχειαν. ἐγένετο δὲ αὐτοὺς ἐνιαυτὸν ὅλον συναχθῆναι ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ, καὶ διδάξαι ὄχλον ἱκανὸν, χρηματίσαι τε πρῶτον ἐν ̓Αντιοχείᾳ τοὺς 27 μαθητὰς Χριστιανούς. Εν ταύταις δὲ ταῖς ἡμέραις κατ28 ῆλθον ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων προφῆται εἰς ̓Αντιόχειαν. ἀνα

στὰς δὲ εἷς ἐξ αὐτῶν ὀνόματι Αγαβος, ἐσήμανε διὰ τοῦ Πνεύματος, λιμὸν μέγαν μέλλειν ἔσεσθαι ἐφ' ὅλην τὴν οἰ 29 κουμένην· ὅστις καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ Κλαυδίου Καίσαρος. τῶν δὲ μαθητῶν καθὼς ηὐπορεῖτό τις, ὥρισαν ἕκαστος αὐτῶν εἰς διακονίαν πέμψαι τοῖς κατοικοῦσιν ἐν τῇ Ἰουδαίᾳ 30 ἀδελφοῖς· ὃ καὶ ἐποίησαν, ἀποστείλαντες πρὸς τοὺς πρεσβυτέρους διὰ χειρὸς Βαρνάβα καὶ Σαύλου.

ΚΑΤ ̓ ἐκεῖνον δὲ τὸν καιρὸν ἐπέβαλεν Ηρώδης ὁ βασι λεὺς τὰς χεῖρας κακῶσαί τινας τῶν ἀπὸ τῆς ἐκκλησίας. 2, 3 ἀνεῖλε δὲ Ἰάκωβον τὸν ἀδελφὸν Ἰωάννου μαχαίρᾳ. καὶ ἰδὼν ὅτι ἀρεστόν ἐστι τοῖς Ἰουδαίοις, προσέθετο συλλαβεῖν 4 καὶ Πέτρον ἦσαν δὲ ἡμέραι τῶν ἀζύμων· ὃν καὶ πιάσας ἔθετο εἰς φυλακὴν, παραδοὺς τέσσαρσι τετραδίοις στρατιω τῶν φυλάσσειν αὐτὸν, βουλόμενος μετὰ τὸ πάσχα ἀναγα5 γεῖν αὐτὸν τῷ λαῷ. ὁ μὲν οὖν Πέτρος ἐτηρεῖτο ἐν τῇ φυλακῇ· προσευχὴ δὲ ἦν ἐκτενὴς γινομένη ὑπὸ τῆς ἐκκλησίας πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν ὑπὲρ αὐτοῦ.

Ὅτε δὲ ἔμελλεν αὐτὸν προάγειν ὁ Ἡρώδης, τῇ νυκτὶ ἐκείνῃ ἦν ὁ Πέτρος κοιμώμενος μεταξὺ δύο στρατιωτῶν, δεδεμένος ἁλύσεσι δυσὶ, φύλακές τε πρὸ τῆς θύρας ἐτήρουν η τὴν φυλακήν. καὶ ἰδοὺ ἄγγελος Κυρίου ἐπέστη, καὶ φῶς ἔλαμψεν ἐν τῷ οἰκήματι· πατάξας δὲ τὴν πλευρὰν τοῦ Πέτρου, ἤγειρεν αὐτὸν λέγων, ̓Ανάστα ἐν τάχει. καὶ ἐξέπεσον 8 αὐτοῦ αἱ ἁλύσεις ἐκ τῶν χειρῶν. εἶπέ τε ὁ ἄγγελος πρὸς αὐτὸν, Περίζωσαι, καὶ ὑπόδησαι τὰ σανδάλιά σου· ἐποίησε

12 NOW about that time Herod the king 2stretched 2 forth his hands to vex certain of the church. And he killed James athe brother of John with the sword. a Matt. 4. 21. 3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of b Ex. 12. 14, 4 unleavened bread.) And when he had apprehended c John 21. 18 him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after 5 Easter to bring him forth to the people. Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.

6 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before 7 the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of d ch. 5. 19. the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains 8 fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. Κρούσαντος δὲ τοῦ Πέτρου τὴν θύραν τοῦ πυλῶνος, 14 προσῆλθε παιδίσκη ὑπακοῦσαι, ὀνόματι Ρόδη· καὶ ἐπιγνοῦσα τὴν φωνὴν τοῦ Πέτρου, ἀπὸ τῆς χαρᾶς οὐκ ἤνοιξε τὸν πυλῶνα, εἰσδραμοῦσα δὲ ἀπήγγειλεν ἑστᾶναι 15 τὸν Πέτρον πρὸ τοῦ πυλῶνος. οἱ δὲ πρὸς αὐτὴν εἶπον,

Μαίνῃ. ἡ δὲ διισχυρίζετο οὕτως ἔχειν. οἱ δὲ ἔλεγον, 16 Ὁ ἄγγελος αὐτοῦ ἐστιν. ὁ δὲ Πέτρος ἐπέμενε κρούων τῇ ἀνοίξαντες δὲ εἶδον αὐτὸν, καὶ ἐξέστησαν. κατασείσας

δὲ αὐτοῖς τῇ χειρὶ σιγᾷν, διηγήσατο αὐτοῖς πῶς ὁ Κύριος αὐτὸν ἐξήγαγεν ἐκ τῆς φυλακῆς. εἶπε δὲ, ̓Απαγγείλατε Ἰακώβῳ καὶ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς ταῦτα. καὶ ἐξελθὼν ἐπορεύθη 18 εἰς ἕτερον τόπον. Γενομένης δὲ ἡμέρας, ἣν τάραχος οὐκ

ὀλίγος ἐν τοῖς στρατιώταις, τί ἄρα ὁ Πέτρος ἐγένετο. 19 Ἡρώδης δὲ ἐπιζητήσας αὐτὸν καὶ μὴ εὑρὼν, ἀνακρίνας

τοὺς φύλακας, ἐκέλευσεν ἀπαχθῆναι· καὶ κατελθὼν ἀπὸ 2ο τῆς Ἰουδαίας εἰς τὴν Καισάρειαν διέτριβεν. Ἦν δὲ ὁ Ἡρώδης θυμομαχῶν Τυρίοις καὶ Σιδωνίοις· ὁμοθυμαδὸν δὲ παρῆσαν πρὸς αὐτὸν, καὶ πείσαντες Βλάστον τὸν ἐπὶ τοῦ

9 thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done e Ps. 126. 1. 10 by the angel; but thought fhe saw a vision. And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, ak ch. 4. 23. 14 damsel came 1to hearken, named Rhoda. And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the gate for gladness, but ran in, and told how Peter stood before 15 the gate. And they said unto her, Thou art mad. But she constantly affirmed that it was even so. Then 16 said they, It is his angel. But Peter continued n Gen. 48.16. knocking: and when they had opened the door, and 17 saw him, they were astonished. But he, beckoning o ch. 13. 16. unto them with the hand to hold their declared & 21. 40. unto them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, Go shew these things unto James, and to the brethren. And he departed, and 18 went into another place. κοιτῶνος τοῦ βασιλέως, ᾐτοῦντο εἰρήνην, διὰ τὸ τρέφεσθαι αὐτῶν τὴν χώραν ἀπὸ τῆς βασιλικής.

Τακτῇ δὲ ἡμέρᾳ ὁ Ἡρώδης ἐνδυσάμενος ἐσθῆτα βασιλικὴν, καὶ καθίσας ἐπὶ τοῦ βήματος, ἐδημηγόρει πρὸς αὐ22 τούς. ὁ δὲ δῆμος ἐπεφώνει, Θεοῦ φωνὴ καὶ οὐκ ἀνθρώπου. 23 παραχρῆμα δὲ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν ἄγγελος Κυρίου, ἀνθ' ὧν

οὐκ ἔδωκε τὴν δόξαν τῷ Θεῷ· καὶ γενόμενος σκωληκό24 βρωτος, ἐξέψυξεν. ὁ δὲ λόγος τοῦ Θεοῦ ηὔξανε καὶ ἐπλη25 θύνετο. Βαρνάβας δὲ καὶ Σαῦλος ὑπέστρεψαν ἐξ Ιερου

13 ΗΣΑΝ δέ τινες ἐν ̓Αντιοχείᾳ κατὰ τὴν οὖσαν ἐκ κλησίαν προφῆται καὶ διδάσκαλοι, ὅ τε Βαρνάβας καὶ Συμεὼν ὁ καλούμενος Νίγερ, καὶ Λούκιος ὁ Κυρηναῖος, Μαναήν τε Ηρώδου του τετράρχου σύντροφος, καὶ Σαῦ. 2 λος. λειτουργούντων δὲ αὐτῶν τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ νηστευόντων, εἶπε τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ ̔́Αγιον, ̓Αφορίσατε δή μοι τόν τε Βαρνάβαν καὶ τὸν Σαῦλον εἰς τὸ ἔργον ὃ προσκέκλη3 μαι αὐτούς. τότε νηστεύσαντες καὶ προσευξάμενοι, καὶ 4 ἐπιθέντες τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῖς, ἀπέλυσαν. Οὗτοι μὲν οὖν ἐκπεμφθέντες ὑπὸ τοῦ Πνεύματος τοῦ ̔Αγίου, κατῆλθον εἰς τὴν Σελεύκειαν, ἐκεῖθέν τε ἀπέπλευσαν εἰς τὴν 5 Κύπρον. καὶ γενόμενοι ἐν Σαλαμίνι, κατήγγελλον τὸν λόγον τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς τῶν Ἰουδαίων· εἶχον 6 δὲ καὶ Ἰωάννην ὑπηρέτην. διελθόντες δὲ τὴν νῆσον ἄχρι Πάφου, εὗρόν τινα μάγον ψευδοπροφήτην Ιουδαῖον, η ᾧ ὄνομα Βαρησοῦς, ὃς ἦν σὺν τῷ ἀνθυπάτῳ Σεργίῳ Παύλῳ, ἀνδρὶ συνετῷ· οὗτος προσκαλεσάμενος Βαρνάβαν καὶ Σαύλον, ἐπεζήτησεν ἀκοῦσαι τὸν λόγον τοῦ 8 Θεοῦ. ἀνθίστατο δὲ αὐτοῖς Ελύμας ὁ μάγος· οὕτω γὰρ μεθερμηνεύεται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ· ζητῶν διαστρέψαι τὸν ο ἀνθύπατον ἀπὸ τῆς πίστεως. Σαῦλος δὲ, ὁ καὶ Παῦλος, 1ο πλησθεὶς Πνεύματος ̔Αγίου, καὶ ἀτενίσας εἰς αὐτὸν εἶπεν, Ω πλήρης παντὸς δόλου καὶ πάσης ῥᾳδιουργίας, υἱὲ διαβόλου, ἐχθρὸ πάσης δικαιοσύνης, οὐ παύσῃ διαστρέφων 23 τὴν om.
