212699 AUG 24 1317 CBUH M12 ADVERTISEMENT. THE plan of the present work is to unite the Four Gospels in one continued narrative, omitting only such passages as are obviously repetitions, but retaining every circumstance in the life of Christ, and every expression, however minute, which is recorded by any one of the four Evangelists. The arrangement followed has been generally that of Dr. White's Greek Diatessaron: the text and punctuation are strictly those of the authorized version. References are given in the margin on one side to the place from which each passage is taken; and on the opposite side Dr. Blayney's references to the Old Testament, and to the Acts and Epistles, are collected from all the four Gospels. Various readings are given at the foot of the page from the most esteemed Paraphrases. Oxford, October, 1837. |
