The Annual Meeting of the Shropshire Archæological and Natural History Society was held at Shrewsbury, on Wednesday, October 13th, 1915, under the presidency of the Rev. Prebendary Auden, F.S.A., Chairman of the Council. The Meeting was of more than passing interest owing to the presence of Mr. J. P. Bushe-Fox, who has been superintending the excavations at Uriconium, and gave a valuable report of the work carried out there. Amongst those present were Sir J. Bowen Bowen-Jones, Bart., Mr. R. Lloyd Kenyon, the Rev. Prebendary ClarkeMaxwell, F.S.A., the Rev. C. H. Drinkwater, the Rev. W. G. D. Fletcher, F.S.A., the Rev. E. H. Gilchrist de Castro, the Rev. R. C. Purton, Messrs. T. E. With regard to the former, a hope may be entertained that some who have expressed the wish to resign will reconsider their decision. With regard to the latter, representatives of this Society attended a meeting of the Research Committee of the Society of Antiquaries in April last, when it was unanimously decided that in view of scarcity of labour and other difficulties the work at Wroxeter should be suspended till further notice. Apart from this, except that the Annual Excursion was omitted, the ordinary work of the Society has been carried on without interruption. It has been decided, however, in future to print the Transactions in Shrewsbury, as affording greater facilities for communication between the authors of papers and the publishers. In the autumn of last year a suggestion was made in the Corporation |
