THESE lectures have excited great interest, and have already obtained a very extensive circulation in separate numbers. Their object is plain. While many divines are taking up and ably discussing special objections of Dr. Colenso, and so far meeting the requirements of scholars, it appeared to the author highly important to place in a clear and logical, but popular point of view, the sad sophistry of the misguided prelate. The Rationalistic controversy has begun. Great force is arrayed on its side. Men of standing and popular gifts have become its exponents and advocates.
