CONTINUATION OF THE CATALOGUE OF THE EFFECTS ON SALE BELONGING TO THE DOCTOR AND CO.

Lot 1.

A CURIOUS Peftle and Mortar, made out of the thigh-bone of a country gentleman, ufed by the Doctor for pounding fimples. The race of this creature, as well as the Mammoth, is fuppofed to be extinct.

3. A Scheme for hermetically fealing the Enemy's Ports, by turning á Prime Minifter, or other ponderous fubftance, into a Mud Bank.

4. A Stock of Bows; one of extraordinary length belonging to the Doctor; and another with two ftrings to it, the property of Lord Vifcount C-tle-h. This laft article particularly ufeful in all families, and in much request for the Irish trade.

5. A Stock-jobbing Machine, complete, and in ftant work; by which a Prefs Warrant may verted into a Bank Note, and a Cabinet Secret into a Transfer of Bank Stock.

6. The Figure of Neptune, with the Trident broken. This ftatue is particularly recommended to the notice of the public; it is fo conftructed as, when viewed in different lights, to appear to reprefent different perfonages when feen in one, it reprefents the God of the Ocean, when in another, an old Bum-boat

woman.

7. Two curious Speaking Figures, or Automata, in lead. They are fo dreffed as to reprefent two boatfwains in his Majefty's fervice; and they are fo conftructed as to anfwer any questions which may be put to them. Their language is admirably fuited to the character they are made to appear in, as all they fay is mixed with the oaths, blafphemy, and vulgarity which ufually proceed from the lips of the inferior officers on board the King's fhips. Thefe figures have juft been new dreffed, and their clothes fresh laced. But notwithstanding the expenfe to which they have put the proprietor, they will be fold cheap.-The mechanifm is supposed to be damaged, and it is doubted whether they will ever fpeak to any. purpofe again. As the pea-feafon is coming on, they are recommended

to gardeners in the neighbourhood of the metropolis as excellent fcarecrows.

8. A new Syftem of Economy, recommended to the particular attention of the Country, by which it is made clearly manifeft, that having no Ships in our Dock-yards, and no Stores in our Warehouses, is the cheapest way of providing for the Security, and adding to the Defence of the Country.

9. Two curious contrivances for opening Letters; these were discovered, it is faid, by Sir Sidney Smith, although, report fays, the prefent proprietor and his affiftants have long made ufe of them.

10. An affortment of Thumb-fcrews and Engines of Torture, to make refractory Shipwrights work; together with an Effay on Ship-building, proving that fhips on paper are cheaper than when built of oak.

E are told that Circular Letters have been fent to all the Members of both Houfes who have lately voted with the Doctor, begging of them, in the moft urgent manner, to meet him, were it only for the laft time, at his houfe in Downing Street, this afternoon; when he means to addrefs them nearly in the following words :

"MY DEAR FRIENDS,

"Permit me ftill to call you by that name, and to indulge a fond hope that you will not defert me in my utmost need, but give me your farther fupport at this alarming crifis.
