&c." $ I his was, that Pharaoh might not say that it was an accident, for which reason God appointed a set time.

(To enquire) is understood. il By which we are informed, that notwithstanding he saw this great miracle, yet did he harden his heart, and would not let the people go.

Heb. Fling, cast, more properly should be rendered scattered, as in Ezekiel, chap. x. ver. .. As for sprinkle, it belongs, I think, more properly to liquids.

Ver. 15, and 16, should be rendered thus :" For, I could now stretch forth my hand, and smite " thee and thy people with pestilence, so that thou shouldst have been cut off from the earth. But “ truly for this reason have suffered thec to stand, that I might shew thee my power, &c." ! have no need to say any thing concerning my emendations; the context will sufficiently shew the necessity of their being understood as I have rendered them.
