A previous marriage had taken place in Italy, where the parties became firft acquainted.

The fuit now inftituted to diffolve the marriage, has been commenced at the exprefs inftance of his majesty.

The perfons who have been examined on this bufinefs are - lady Dunmore; lady E. Murray; a coal merchant and his wife, who live in South Moulton-ftreet, where the lodgings were taken, to complete the refidence of one month in the parish of St. George, Hanover-fquare; and the clergyman who married the parties.

Some difpatches of recent date were received yesterday from the Mediterranean; admiral Gell remains off Genoa; lord Hood, with a principal part of the squadron, is at the island of Hieres; admiral Colby is on a cruize, and fome thips are fent to Gibraltar to repair. The port of Toulon is blocked up, Genoa closely watched, and all the alled flates of Italy are completely guarded.

30 Two natives of India, faid to be perfons of very great diftinction, came to the India-houfe; they have made a very circuitous journey from Bengal, over land. The object of their journey has not yet tranfpired.

Edinburgh, Feb. 1. In the late ftorm above 50 trees, oak and fir. were tore. up by the roots in Kenmore Park, Dumfriesshire, on Saturday morning. Some of the latter, of a very great fize, were broke through the middle as if cut by a faw.

A naval officer arrived at the Admiralty with dispatches from rear admiral Hood, dated Hieres Bay, Jan. 12; they contain a positive contradiction of the French accounts of feveral English veffels being captured in the harbour of Toulon, which had been blocked up by our frigates ever fince the evacu ation. His lordship ftates, that he is in great want of ftores for refitting his fquadron: and that it will be neceffary, on that account, to fend fome of the largest ships home. He further adds, that rear-admiral Gell had obtained his permiffion to return to England for the recovery of his health.

3. A dreadful catastrophe occurred on gaining admiffion to the Haymarket theatre, which was the next day inveftigated by the coroner's jury of St. Martin's in the Fields. It appeared in evidence, that upwards of 60 people had been admitted into the pit before any accident happened. The dreadful cry of murder! and overbearing numbers crowding to the pit door, induced the attendants, in order to abate the preffure, to cry out, "There is no room, the pit is full!" This checked

the admiffors.

At this inftant, however, a gentleman fell at the bottom of the flairs Capram Garbutt.) Though a very powerful and lufty man, he was unable to recover himself; and by this the fatal and rapid confequences are suppoted to have their origin. The doorkeeper got him into the lobby, but not time enough to fave his life, nor to prevent thirteen others fuffering the fame fate by being trampled upon.

The violent preffure prevented the bar being loofed, fo as to afford a relief for thofe under foot, by admitting inftantly the crowd that was upon them. The growing torrents were abated in fome degree, by one of the door-keepers jumping out of the pit upon the flage, from thence through the boxes to the outer door, and by the affiftance of the conftables and guards, preserved, no doubt, the lives of many, by cutting through the mob immediately at the entrance.

The following were feven of those who suffered, and on whom the jury gave their verdict of "Accidental death by fuffocation and being trampled upon at the pit door of the Hay-market theatre." Mr. Brandram, nephew of Mr. Brandram, white-lead manufactory, Horley-down. Mr. Brook, of the herald's office, Doctors Commons. Mr. Robinfon. farrier, ClerkenwellClofe.
