PSALM 124. Nisi quia Dominus.

F the Lord himself had not been on our side, now may Israel say: if the Lord himself had not been on our side, when' men rose' up against us;

rejoice.

5. Turn our cap'tivity, O Lord as the' rivers' in the south.

6. They that' sow in tears shall" reap in joy.

7. He that now goeth on his way weeping, and beareth' forth good seed : shall doubtless come again with joy, and' bring his' sheaves with him.

PSALM 129. Sæpe expugnaverunt.

2. They had swallowed us up quick : MANY a time have they fought

when they were so wrathfully dis'pleased at us.

3. Yea, the' waters had drowned us : and the' stream had gone' over our soul. 4. The deep' waters of the proud : had' gone even' over our soul.

5. But praised' be the Lord: who hath not given us over for a' prey un'to their teeth.

6. Our soul is escaped even as a bird out of the snare of the fowler: the snare is broken, and' we are delivered.

7. Our help standeth in the' Name of the Lord: who hath' made' heaven and earth.

against me from my youth up:

may' Israel' now say.

2. Yea, many a time have they vexed me from my youth up but they have' not prevailed against me.

3. The plowers plowed up'on my back and' made' long furrows.

4. But the righteous Lord hath hewn the snares of the un'godly in pieces.

5. Let them be confounded and' turned backward as many as have' evil' will at Sion.

6. Let them be even as the grass growing up'on the housetops: which withereth a'fore it be' plucked up;

7. Whereof the mower filleth' not his hand neither he that' bindeth up the' sheaves his bosom.

:

8. So that they who go by say not so much as, The' Lord prosper you : we wish you good luck in the' Name' of the Lord.

PSALM 118. Confitemini Domino. GIVE thanks unto the Lord, for he is gracious: because his' mer

4. Yea, the Lord hath done great cy en'dureth for ever.

2. Let Israel now confess, that he is gracious: and that his' mercy en'dureth

for ever.

3. Let the house of Aaron' now confess that his' mercy en'dureth for

4. Yea, let them now that fear the' Lord confess that his mercy en'dureth for ever.

5. I called upon the' Lord in trouble: and the' Lord heard' me at large.

6. The Lord is on my side: I will not fear what' man' doeth unto me.

7. The Lord taketh my part with' them that help me therefore shall I see my de'sire up'on mine enemies.

8. It is better to' trust in the Lord : than to' put any confidence in man.

9. It is better to' trust in the Lord : than to' put any confidence in princes. 10. All nations compassed me' round about but in the Name of the' Lord

will' I destroy them.

11. They kept me in on every side, they kept me in, I say, on' every side : but in the Name of the Lord will' I destroy them.

12. They came about me like bees, and are extinct even as the fire a'mong the thorns: for in the Name of the' Lord I' will destroy them.

17. I shall not' die, but live and de'clare the' works of the Lord.

18. The Lord hath' chastened and corrected me but he hath not given me' over unto death.

19. Open me the' gates of righteousness that I may go into them, and give' thanks un'to the Lord.

20. This is the' gate of the Lord : the' righteous shall' enter into it.

21. I will thank thee, for' thou hast heard me and art be'come' my salvation.

22. The same stone which the' builders refused is become the' head-stone' in the corner.

23. This is the' Lord's doing and it is' marvellous' in our eyes.

HE king shall rejoice in thy' strength, O Lord exceeding glad shall he' be of' thy salvation.

2. Thou hast given him his' heart's desire and hast not denied him the re'quest of his lips.

3. For thou shalt prevent him with the blessings of goodness and shalt set a crown of pure gold up'on his head.

4. He asked life of thee, and thou gavest' him a long life : e-ven for ever and ever.

5. His honour is great in' thy salvation glory and great worship' shalt thou' lay upon him.

6. For thou shalt give him ever'lasting felicity and make him glad with the' joy' of thy countenance.

7. And why? because the King putteth his' trust in the Lord and in the mercy of the most Highest' he shall' not miscarry.
