The SWISS DAIRY COMPANY'S LUCERNE PURE MILK, Concentrated, in Tins Closed by Patent Process (Not Soldered). Prof. JOHN ATTFIELD, Ph.D., F.C.S., Professor of Practical Chemistry to the Pharmaceutical Society, London. Dr. N. NORMAN TATE, F.I.C., Liverpool, and other authorities. "Pure, rich, wholesome, fragrant Cow's Milk from which nothing but part of its water has been abstracted." "Again diluted with a sufficient quantity of water, a milk identical in every respect with fresh sweet milk is obtained." "Entirely free from chemicals, sugar, or any kind of thickening matter, which forms so large a proportion of other concentrated Milks. It is, therefore, more palatable, and certainly more wholesome, especially for children. It is also more useful for cooking purposes." "Ensures a uniform quality all the year round." After opening the tin the milk will keep sound and sweet for at least four days; whatever has to be kept over for some time had better be kept in an earthen vessel instead of in the tin. "Preferable in many cases, and equal in all to the best fresh Cow's Milk." "The propagation of infectious diseases rendered impossible." General Agent and Consignee-WM. MULLER, 15, Abchurch-lane, London, E.C. AERATED BREAD COMPANY, LIMITED. INCORPORATED OCTOBER, 1863. CAPITAL £123,600. MATTINU WILLIAMS, F.R.A.S., F.C.8. 8vo., Cloth, 244 pp. Price 7s. 6d. This essay, though avowedly speculative, invokes no hypothetical entities nor actions, but proceeds exclusively by direct deduction of the cosmic operation of demonstrated and universally accepted physical laws. The matter of our atmosphere is shown to be necessarily expanded throughout space, and accumulated around every orb proportionally to its gravitation. 78, Farringdon St., near Ludgate Circus, the sun and planets are calculated. The accumulation, Works by E. D. GIRDLESTONE, B.A., &c. "A most clearly-written, instructive, and useful little pamphlet."-KNOWLEDGE, Feb. 6, 1885, p. 106. VIVISECTION: In its Scientific, Religious, and Moral Aspects. 8vo., 68 pp. Price 18. Apply to the Author, 17, Goldney.rd. Clifton, Bristol. A powerful plea by a competent scholar, an able reasoner, and a fair critic."-Oldham Chronicle Taking our share of this as unity, the atmospheres of instirring, ejection, dissociation, and recombination of the enveloping solar gases are shown to originate and maintain the heat and light of the sun, the instirring agent being the eccentric rotation of the solar nucleus effected by the reaction of planetary gravitation; the fresh fuel supplied by the cosmic matter exchanged for that ejected by the prominences in the course of solar translation through space. The sun spots, the prominences, the corona, the zodiacal light, and all the minor details of solar disturbances come out as physical results; also a simple explanation of flashing stars, and of the nebale as permanent bodies. The observed meteorology of the inferior planets, and the semi-solar constitution of the larger, follow from the same physical premises. Assuming that the stars are suns like ours it is shown that no energy is gained or lost throughout the universe, the solar orbs simply concentrating, by the machinery described, the energies previously diffused by radiation.
