OPENING STATEMENT BY THE CHAIRMAN

Senator MAGNUSON. The committee will come to order. Today we start the hearings on general Government matters appropriations which include the Executive Office of the President, funds appropriated to the President, the American Battle Monuments Commission, Foreign Claims Settlement Commission, Subversive Activities Control Board, and I understand the Bureau of the Budget is here and has a statement which they would like to now put in the record.

Mr. STANS. It is a short statement and I would like to read it, Mr. Chairman.

MY DEAR MR. CHAIRMAN: In answer to your inquiry of March 30, 1960, about any changes in the general Government matters appropriation bill for 1961 which are required in the public interest and on which we desire a hearing, there are listed below the changes requested.
