This pasticcio includes airs by Arne, Giordani, Monsigny, Gallupi, and others, and contains the celebrated song sung by Ann Catley, "Where's the mortal can resist me?" the melody of which much resembles the hymn tune Helmsley." 151 [GOUDAR (Ange)], Le Brigandage de la Musique Italienne. [Paris], 1777. 8vo, FIRST EDITION, half morocco, 78.

This satire was written during the fierce war carried on between the Gluckists" and "Piccinists," that aroused all Paris at this time. The author signs the" Epitre dedicatoire with the pseudonym Jean Jacques Sonnette."

Oblong 8vo, with the extremely rare engraved frontispiece representing a player on the flageolet, the "Instructions" printed, the 79 "Lessons" engraved in a special tablature on 6-line staves, a very fresh and clean copy in the original sheep, £30.

A rare edition of this early work on the Flageolet, by Thos. Greeting, so often mentioned in the Diary of Samuel Pepys, to whom he gave lessons. It consists of Frontispiece and title-page, 4 leaves of Instructions, 72 engraved pages of Lessons, and a leaf of Musick Books lately printed for J. Playford." The tunes are composed by Banister, Lock, Grabu, Humphreys and others.

"After the performance of The Messiah [1742], Walsh demanded the MS., sending, at the same time, the usual honorarium of twenty guineas, which was the stipulated price of every oratorio which he printed. But the composer would not accept them, saying, that rather than receive such a sum he would not publish the oratorio." The first edition which is really complete, is that of Randall, Walsh's successor, and it belongs to the year 1768."-Schoelcher.
