The economic value of the gardens to the people was almost incalculable. Vegetables were plentiful and cheap in the whole city all summer. And, instead of rubbish-strewn lots, there were grassy lawns and bowers and orderly gardens. Mr. Boughner very kindly sent to the Superintendent of Horticultural Societies of Ontario 12,000 copies of this excellent paper for distribution in the Province-an evidence of the warm feeling entertained by him towards his native Province. The feature of the closing session was an "Experience Meeting" conducted by Mrs. (Judge) E. W. Biddle. It may be mentioned, as showing the desire to get the greatest possible benefit from the association meeting, that the Fort Wayne (Kansas) Civic Improvement Society, sent the city editors of the three daily papers to the meeting. Mr. McFarland was re-elected President and Mr. Rich. B. Watrous Secretary. Mr. J. Lockie Wilson was also honoured with re-election as one of the six vicepresidents.
