SIR,

It may seem extraordinary, that after the

world has subsisted 5751 years, it should be necessary to attempt a proof of the lawfulness, in the sight of God, of exerting the first principle implanted at the creation in the whole system as far as we can judge of animal nature. “Tread upon a worm and it will turn," is an ancient apothegm indicating the universality of this principle in living creatures. Nature or in other words the wisdom and power of God does nothing in vain. The Bull even before his brow is armed, and
