THE Proprietors of this work, at the conclusion of their second volume, conceive that they have nothing to say which can fitly be called a preface. They feel called upon, however, to apologise to their numerous Subscribers, for the imperfections and inaccuracies which may have been discovered in it, for which they would crave their charity; confiding that such defects will not be attributed to their negligence, or to their disregard of the opinion and approbation of their Subscribers; but to unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances. They hope, however, that they need not point out the improved character the execution of the work has recently exhibited; and they confidently assure them, that they will not have similar grounds of dissatisfaction for the future. The price of the work will be always Threepence in future, and will contain the most Popular Plays performing in the London Theatres. |
