Oval nest of V. britannica, from a pear-tree. The thickness of the case, the free irregular way in which the sheets of paper overlap and are connected to each other, and the loose ragged edges are characteristic of the architecture of this species. The entrance hole is represented, as usual, rather to one side. The little horn or porch often found surrounding the entrance was absent in this speciAbout three-fourths of the natural diameter.
