E remember nothing more remarkable in the political and social history of this country than the sudden prominence which the subject of education has acquired during the last six months. The passing, by the Conservative party, of a Reform Bill, more extensive than that which they had rejected as too sweeping the year before, to a certain degree prepared the country for other important and startling changes.
