ANDREW THOMPSON.- Convicted before the circuit court of Clark county, October 22, 1877, of larceny, and sentenced to imprisonment in state prison for the term of one year. Pardon granted September 14, 1878.

JOHN WELCH.- Convicted before the municipal court of Milwaukee county, April 21, 1875, of manslaughter in the second degree, and sentenced to imprisonment in the house of correction for the term of four years. Par. don granted September 17, 1878.

HENRY B. CRIPPEN.- Convicted before the circuit court of Fond du Lac county, Jaruary 5, 1877, of horse-stealing, and sentenced to imprisonment in state prison for the term of two years. CHARLES R. HALL.- Convicted before the circuit court of Racine county, April 10, 1877, of larceny, and sentenced to imprisonment in state prison for the term of two years. Pardon granted December 24, 1878.

THOMAS CROTTY.- Convicted before the county court of Grant county, March 13, 1877, of larceny, and sentenced to imprisonment in state prison for the term of two years. Pardon granted December 24, 1878.

NOTE.- Pardons to restore to rights of citizenship in no case shorten the term of imprisonment or take effect before the expiration of sentence.

COMMUTATION OF SENTENCE.

ADAM LINK. Convicted before a justice court of Sauk county, March 12, 1878, of trespass, and sentenced to imprisonment in the county jail of Sauk county for a term of forty five days. Sentence commuted March 22. 1878, to a fine of $5 and cost of prosecution, to enable the prisoner, who is a farmer, to put in his crops.

On motion of Senator Price, the senate proceeded to the election of a United States senator to succeed the Hon. Timothy O. Howe, whose term of office expires on the fourth day of March next.
