And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, Which was born of four. 18 Luke And behold men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy. -Luke And they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him. 19 Luke And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in, because of the multitude, They went upon the house-top, and let him down through the tiling with his couch, into the midst before Jesus. Mar. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, They uncovered the roof where he was; and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. Mar. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee. 20 Luke And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Mat. And Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of Son, be of good cheer, thy sins be forgiven thee. Mat. And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. Mar. But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? 21 Luke And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Luke Who can forgive sins but God alone? Mar. Who can forgive sins but God only? Mar. And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit, that they so reasoned within themselves, He said unto them; Why reason ye these things in your hearts? 22 Luke But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts? Mat. And Jesus knowing their thoughts, Said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? Mat. For whether is easier to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee? Or to say, Arise and walk? Mar. Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, VOL. I. Mar. Thy sins be forgiven thee? Or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk. 5 23 Luke Whether is easier to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee? Or to say, Rise up and walk? 24 Luke But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (He said unto the sick of the palsy), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house. Mar. But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (He saith to the sick of the palsy), I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house. And he arose, And departed to his house. 25 Luke and immediately he rose up before them, and took And departed to his own house, glorifying God. Mar. Insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified Saying, We never saw it on this fashion. Saying, We have seen strange things to-day. Mat. The disciples are blamed for not fasting. Mar. And he went forth again by the sea-side, and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them. Mar. And he arose and followed him. 27 Luke And after these things he went forth, and saw a pu blican named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom; And he said unto him, Follow me. Mar. When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick. Mat. But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick. Mat. But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice. Mat. For I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. 32 Luke I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to re pentance. Mar. And the disciples of John, and of the Pharisees, used to fast; and they come, and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John, and the Pharisees fast, But thy disciples fast not? Mat. The woman that had the flux of blood is cured in the street of Capernaum. Jairus' daugh ter is raised from the dead. Mat. While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, And worshipped him, saying, Mar. And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, And when he saw him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying, 8 41 Luke And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: 42 And he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him, Luke That he would come into his house: Mar. For he had one only daughter about twelve years of age, and she lay a-dying.
