Mar. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole,

8 44 Luke And immediately her issue of blood staunched. Mar. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up.

Mar. And she telt in ner body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him,

Mar. Turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes?

And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and thou sayest Who touched me?

45 Luke And Jesus said, Who touched me?

When all denied, Peter, and they that were with him, said, Master, the multitude throng thee, and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46 Luke And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.

Mar. And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing.

Mar. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him,

And told him all the truth.

47 Luke And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him,

She declared unto him before all the people,

for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.

Mat. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, Mat. He said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole.

Mar. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath nade thee whole,

Go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. 49 Luke And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole;

Go in peace.)

Mat. And the woman was made whole from that hour.) Mar. While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the ynagogue's house,

Certain, which said, Thy daughter is dead, why troublest thou the master any further?

49 Luke While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house,

Saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble

not the master.

50 Luke But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only,and she shall be made whole. Mar. As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue,

Be not afraid only believe.

Mar. And he suffered no man to follow him,

Mar. And he cometh to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, (sexetaι us, be goeth into the apartment where the mourners were; as is evident from the conclusion of verse 40. Perhaps it was an outer room.)

And seeth the tumult of them that wept and wailed greatly. ·

Mat. And when Jesus came into the ruler's House, where the mourners were,

And saw the minstrels, and the people making

a noise.

Mat. He said unto them, Give place,

For the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And
they laughed him to scorn.

Mar. And when he was come in, he saith unto them,
Why make ye this ado, and weep?

The damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they
laughed him to scorn.

Luke But he said, Weep not;

She is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laugh. ed him to scorn,

Luke Snowing that she was dead.

54 Luk And he put them all out,

And took her by the hand,

And called, saying, Maid, arise.

Mar. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that vere with him, and entereth in where the damsel vas lying,

And he took the damsel by the hand,

And said unto her, Talitha cumi; which fs, being interpreted, Damsel (I say unto thee) arise.

Mat. But when the people were put forth,

He went in, and took her by the hand,

Mat. And the maid arose.

Mar. And straightway the damsel arose,

And walked, for she was of the age of twelve years.

55 Luke And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway Luke And he commanded to give her meat.

And her parents were astonished; but he char ged them that they should tell no man what was done.

And they were astonished with a great astonish ment. And he charged them straitly that no man should know it:

And commanded that something should be given
her to eat.

Sect. 36. In Capernaum Jesus cures two blind men, and a dumb man possessed with a devil. The Pharisees ascribe his miracles to Beelzebub the first time. (See 48.)

Mat. And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men, &c. to verse 35.

Sect. 37. Jesus makes a fourth tour through Galilee. The twelve apostles are chosen. Their names. Mat. And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness, and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his

harvest.

5 12 Luke And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples.

Mar. And he goeth up into a mountain,

And calleth unto him whom he would: and they

came unto him.

Luke And of them he chose twelve, whom also he named
apostles.
Mar. And he ordained twelve, that they should be with
him, and that he might send them forth to preach :
And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast
out devils.

Sect. 42. John Baptist sends messengers to Jesus. They find him in Capernaum.

18 Luke And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things. Mat. Now when John had heard in prison the works of Christ,

Mat. He sent two of his disciples,

And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

19 Luke And John calling unto him two of his disciples, sent them unto Jesus,

20 Luke When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us to thee, saying, Art thou he that should come, or look we for another? And in that same hour, he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits, and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

22 Luke Then Jesus answering, said unto them, Go your way, And tell John what things ye have seen and heard;

Mat, Jesus answered and said unto them, Go

And shew John again those things which ye
hear and see.

17 22 Luke To the poor the gospel is preached.

And blessed is he whosoever shall not be of fended in me.

Mat. And the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he whosoever shall not be offend ed in me.

Mat. And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the
nultitudes concerning John,

What went ye out into the wilderness to see?
A reed shaken with the wind?

24 Luke And when the messengers of John were departed, he
began to speak unto the people concerning John,

What went ye out into the wilderness for to see?

25 Luke But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in
soft raiment ?

Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in king's courts.

Mat. But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment ?

Behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings houses.

Mat. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 26 Luke But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

Mat. For this is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send ny messenger

Before thy face, which shall prepare thy way

before thee.

27 Luke This is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger

fore thee.

28 Luke For I say unto you, Among those that are born of

There is not a greater prophet than John the
Baptist.

Mat. Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born
of women,

There hath not risen a greater than John the
Baptist.

Mat. Notwithstanding, he that is least in the kingdom of
heaven, is greater than he.

Luke But he that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater
Ithan he.

29 Luke And all the people that heard him, (namely John),
and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with
the baptism of John.

Mat. And from the days of John the Baptist, until now,
the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the
violent take it by force.

Mat. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until
John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias which
