Luke Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences,

And fearful sights, and great signs shall

there be from heaven.

Mat. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom :

And there shall be famines and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.

Mar. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:

And there shall be earthquakes in divers places, and there shall be famines,

And troubles. (agaxa, according to the Hebrew idiom, may signify occasions of terror, so will answer to the fearful sights mentioned by Luke.)

Mar. These are the beginning of sorrows. Mat. All these are the beginnings of sorrows. 12 Luke But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you;

13

Mat. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and

shall kill you;

Mar. But take heed to yourselves; for they shall deliver you up to councils, and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten,

And ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake,

For a testimony against them.

Luke Delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons,
Being brought before kings and rulers for my

name's sake.

And it shall turn to you for a testimony. Mar. And the gospel must first be published among all naItions. See Matt. ver. 14.

Mar. But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought before hand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate; but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye; for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost..

14 Luke Settle it therefore in your hearts not to meditate be15 fore, what ye shall answer. For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.

Mar. Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son:

And children shall rise up against their parents,

and shall cause them to be put to death.

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.

And

21 16 Luke And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, And kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.

And ye shall be hated of all men for my

name's sake.

And ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

And then shall many oe offended,

And shall betray one another; and shall hate one another.

Mat. And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many. (See ver. 5. 24.) And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Mat. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Mar. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

18 Luke But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19 Luke In your patience possess ye your souls.

Mat. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in
all the world, for a witness unto all nations, (see
Mark xiii. 10.) and then shall the end come.
Mat. W nen ye therefore shall see the abomination of de
solation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,
Stand in the holy place

(Whoso readeth, let him understand.)

Mar. But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet,

Standing where it ought not

(Let him that readeth understand.)

20 Luke. And when ye shall see Jerusalem

Compassed with armies,

Then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.

21 Luke Then let them which are in Judea flee to the moun

tains;

And let them which are in the midst of it (Je

rusalem) depart out;

And let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.

Mar. Then let them that be in Judea flee to the mountains; And let him that is on the house-top not gơ down into the house, neither enter therein to take any thing out of his house.

And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment. Mat. Then let them which be in Judea flee into the moun

tains.

Let him which is on the house-top not come down to take any thing out of his house;

Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

22 Luke For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

23 Luke But woe unto them that are with child,

And to them which give suck in those days. Mat. And woe to them that are with child,

And to them that give suck in those days. Mar. And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter. Mat. But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, Mar. Neither on the Sabbath-day:

Mat. For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the

Beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

Mar. For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not

from the

Beginning of the creation which God created, unto this time, neither shall be.

Luke For there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.

24 Luke And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations; and Je

rusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, un til the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

Mat. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved.

Mar. And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved.

Mar. But for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he
hath shortened the days.

Mat. But for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Mat. Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is
Christ, or there; believe it not.

Mar. And then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is
Christ, or lo, he is there; believe him not.

Mat. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets,
And shall shew great signs and wonders,

Insomuch, that (if it were possible) they shall
deceive the very elect. See Matt. ver. 5.11.
Mar. For false Christs and false prophets shall rise,
And shall shew signs and wonders,

To seduce, if it were possible, even the elect..
Mar. But take ye heed: behold I have foretold you all

things.

Mat. Behold I have told you before.

Mat. Wherefore, if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert, go not forth; behold, he is in the secret chambers, believe it not. For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

Mat. Immediately after the tribulation of those days, shall
the sun be darkened.

And the moon shall not give her light,
And the stars shall fall from heaven,

And in the moon,

And in the stars.

Luke And upon the earth (or rather, upon the land) dis-
tress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the
waves roaring; Mens hearts failing them for fear,
and for looking after those things which are coming
on the earth:

Luke For the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
Mar. And the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
Mat. And the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
Mat. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in
heaven; and then shall all the tribes of the earth

mourn.

Mat. And they shall see the Son of man coming

In the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

Mar. And then shall they see the Son of man coming In the clouds, with great power and glory. 27 Luke And then shall they see the Son of man coming In a cloud, with power and great glory. Mat. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of ja trumpet,

And they shall gather together his elect from the four winds,

From one end of heaven to the other. Mar. And then shall he send his angels,

And shall gather together his elect from the four winds,

From the uttermost part of the earth, to the uttermost part of heaven.

28 Luke And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

29 Luke And he spake to them a parable, Behold the fig-tree, and all the trees;

30

When they now shoot forth,

Ye see and know of your own selves, that summer is now nigh at hand.

Mar. Now learn a parable of the fig-tree:

When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves,

Ye know that summer is near:

Mat. Now learn a parable of the fig-tree:

When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves,

Ye know that summer is nigh:

Mat. So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things,
Know that it is near, even at the doors.

Mar. So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things

come to pass,

Know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at

hand.

32 Luke Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

33

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mar. Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass till all these things be done.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mat. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Mat. But of that day and hour knoweth no man,

(

No, not the angels of heaven, but my Father
only.
Mar. But of that day and that hour knoweth no man,
No, not the angels which are in heaven, neither
the Son, but the Father!

Mat. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming
of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were
before the flood, they were eating and drinking, mar
rying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe
entered into the ark, and knew not until the flood
came and took them all away; so shall also the co-
ming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in
the field, the one shall be taken and the other left.

shall be taken and the other left.

the Son of man.

Mar. Take ye heed, watch and pray for ye know not
when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man
taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave
authority to his servants, and to every man his
work, and commanded the porter to watch.
Mar. Watch ye therefore, (for ye know not when the ma-
ster of the house cometh; at even, or at midnight,
or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning), Lest
coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what
I say unto you, I say unto all, Watch.

Mat. Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your
Lord doth come.

Mat. But know this, that if the good man of the house
