c The whole Earth is down to the Sea in

[ocr errors]

a We have heard with our Ears, O God, our Fathers have told'us, what Works thou didit in their Days in the Times of old.

For as the Earth bringeth forth her Bud, and as the Garden caureth the Things that are sown in it to spring forth, fo the Lord God hath caused Righteousness and Praise to spring forth before all Nations

of his Glory and Riches; and they that go Ships, these see the Works of the Lord, and his Wonders in the Deep.

+ The Lord is King for ever and ever, and his Dominion is an everlalting Dominion.

e He ruleth by his Power for ever; 'let not the Rebellious exalt themselves:

f He is the Blessed and only Potentate ; the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords: The One Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy.

% Who hath given him a Charge over the Earth? Or who hath disposed the whole World? Who téacheth like him? Or who hath enjoined him his Way? He worketh'all Things atter the Counsel of his own Will; and he giveth not Account of any of his Matters.

i The Lord of Hofts he is the King of Glory; Honour and Majesty are before him ; Strength and Beauty are in his San&uary.

m The Lord is great in Counsel, and mighty in Word: The Lord hath done excellent Things; his work is honourable and glorious.

» The Work of the Lord is perfect ; for all his Ways are Judgment.

He is the ONLY GOD. Beings

. God is One; the Lord is the true God, he is God alone. The Lord our God is one Lord.

i The Lord he is God, in Heaven above and upon the Earth beneath ; there is none else.

• The Lord he is God; there is none else besides him: Before him there was formed, neither thall there be after him.

w Though there be that are called Gods, whe. ther in Heaven or in Earth; yet to us there is but One God the Father, of whom are all Things, and we in him.

* At the Gods of the People are Idols, which by Nature are no Gods. They cannot do Evil, neither also is it in them to do Good. know that an Idol is nothing in the World; and that a graven Image is profitable for nothing; and that there is none other God but One.

For we

There is NONE LIKE Him.

ly Who is like unto thee, O Lord! Who is Jike thee, glorious in Holiness, fearful in Praises, doing Wonders ?

To whom fhall we liken God? Or what Likeness thall we compare unto him? Or to whom shall he be equal ?

& Who in the Heavens can be compared unto the Lord? who among the Sons of the Mighty can be likened unto him?

• Thou art great, OʻLord God, there is none like thee; neither

are there

any

Works like unto thy Works.

Among the Gods, there is none like unto thee, O Lord; there is no God like thee in Heaven above, or on Earth beneath.

d There is none like thee in all the Earth : Among all the wise Men of the Nations, and in all their Kingdoms, there is none like unto thee, O King of Nations.

God is not (as the Wicked think) altogether fuch an one as ourselves; for his Ways are not our Ways, nor his Thoughts our Thoughts: But as the Heavens are' higher than the Earth, so are his Ways

higher than our Ways, and his Thoughts than our Thoughts.

f Forasmuch as we are the Offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto Gold, or Silver, or Stone graven by Art of Man's Device.

He is GREATER than All Things. & Who is so great a God as our God ?

Thou, whose Name alone is Jehovah, art the most High over all the Earth.

i The Lord our God is God of Gods, and Lord of Lords.

* He is far above all Principality, and Power, and Might, and Dominion, and every Name that is named, not only in this World, but also in that which is to come.

| The Lord is greater than all Gods, and he is to be feared above all Gods: For all the Gods of the Nations are Idols; but the Lord made the Heavens.

m. God is greater than Man. It is he that fitteth upon the Circle of the Earth, and the Inhabitants thereof are as Grashoppers,

* Behold, the Nations are as a Drop of a Bucket, and are counted as the finall Duit of the Balance: All the Inhabitants of the Earth are sep!ited as nothing before him; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and Vanity.

• Who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed to him again?

GOD is a SPIRIT. God is a Spirit. . He is invisible; whom no Man hath feen, nor can see at any Time ; neither hath any Man heard his Voice at any Time, or seen his Shape.

ETERNAL. p The Lord he is the Eternal God, who liveth for ever and ever.
