ZIKLAG, a city which Achish king of Gath gave to David while he took shelter in the land of the Philistines, and which afterwards remained as a domain to the kings of Judah. (1 Sam. xxvii. 6.) It was taken and plundered by the Amalekites during David's ab- sence: it was situated in the extreme parts of the tribe of Judah, southward.
ZOAN, an antient city in Lower Egypt; according to the Septua- gint and Targums, it is Tanis on the eastern mouth of the Nile. (Numb. xiii. 22. Isa. xix. 11. 13. xxx. 4. Ezek. xxx. 14.)
ZOAR, a city on the southern extremity of the Dead Sea. (Gen. xiii. 10. xix. 22. 30. Isa. xv. 5. Jer. xlviii. 34.) Its more antient name was Bela.-
