LAURA AND THE FAIRIES.

Laura was told that if she sat at the open window long enough, she would see the fairies. So she went one evening into her father's study, and sat on the ottoman before the window, and waited, but no fairies came. She fell asleep at last, and dreamed that they had come in. When she woke it was quite dark. So she went to bed.

FA-THER'S DIN-NER.

Once up-on a time there was a girl who ne-ver was ready for any-thing. She was al-ways late. One day she had to car-ry her fa-ther's din-ner to him in the field, and, be-ing late as usual, she was in a hurry, and she trip-ped and fell. The din-ner fell too, and was spilt, and the ducks ate it all up. Her mo-ther was very angry, and whip-ped her.
