Loading... The traveler's key to ancient Egypt : a guide to the sacred places of ancient Egypt (edition 1985)by John Anthony WestThis is one of those books that has both good and bad aspects. The good: John Anthony West has spent many years in Egypt. He knows a great deal about its modern culture and the ins and outs of visiting the country. You should take his opinions on this as good advice, albeit more than slightly out-of-date when it comes to the practical aspects of travel in that country. West also knows the lay of the land insofar as what's and 'where's of the monuments of this ancient land. He has a good deal of information on them. So long as you don't believe everything he might say about the interpretation of the culture that built them, you'll be fine. I enjoyed reading this book, and it's been long enough since I did that it's time to read it again. |
